Happy Halloween Everyone!

Happy Halloween! I simply love Halloween. Costumes are the best. Especially non-sexy costumes. Sexy is easy...try clever instead. Above, the most perfect of all costumes. A mini-moustache. Perfect for going incognito. Available here.

I don't know what is cooler...the dog or his disguise.

new~new~new

Just in today, the prettiest little camis & panties by Arianne. Pictured above, the "Emma" cami, which can be worn as lingerie or outerwear. I'm loving the straps on these. They are a super soft mesh that compliments the floral lace design, and the entire body is lined with the same mesh. Making for a very comfortable non-transparent sexy cami. These are so pretty! I wish I had a photo of the cute hipster panty it matches...you must come in.

the opposite of "bananas"

The Rachel Zoe Project is a Bravo TV docu-drama that follows celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe and her trusted inner circle -- husband Rodger and fashion team, Taylor and Brad -- as they go about their day to day uber-important fashion business. I want to love it, as I'm a sucker for junk food-esque reality tv, but I can't even get through an episode of this one.
Rachel is constantly whipping out these little catch phrases she has come up with. They would be (sortof) amusing if she didn't overuse them to the point of nausea. Her favorites?
"She's Shutting it Down"...used when an attractive Starlett looks amazing in a designer gown.
"I Die"....used when something sparkly/shiny/pretty catches Zoe's eye.
"It's Bananas"...used to describe anything and everything. Over and over. Ughh.....It is so NOT bananas.
Anneke Jakobs is a designer/applied artist who makes beautiful things. Using mostly found objects and reclaimed materials her sense of design revolves around deconstruction and reconstruction and how those two things can create completely different worlds. Check out her beautiful cardboard chandelier made from deconstructed banana cartons. The best thing is she has provided the instructions. It's pretty bananas.

Gypsy Dinner

So I'm sure you've all seen the Rock of Love episode where Bret escorts his three "ladies" to a place called Opaque.
No? Well let me catch you up. Opaque is an elegant LA restaurant where all of the fine dining happens in the dark making for a more sensory, intimate experience. Sounds interesting and someplace I would love to check out. Perhaps with someone other than Bret Michaels, but still. How intriguing. Well, Seattle has our own sensory intimate dining experience called Gypsy. At Gypsy, all the lights are left on, but described as, "one of the sexiest dining experiences in Seattle", of course I jumped at the chance to attend when invited.

From the Gypsy website....

"Gypsy is a roving feast for all of the senses, a multicourse meal, half French Laundry, half Cirque de Soleil. Gypsy is an Underground dining concept where expecting the unexpected is a prerequisite. Exquisite cuisine combine with sparkling wit, great conversations with unbridled curiosity.

Guests will be given the address a few nights before the event, not before. No money changes hands at the event. This concept is not for everyone. Many many people like the predictability and constancy of standardized restaurant experiences. Eating with us is always different, new people at the table, new chef creating brilliant new food, new locations; it takes a special kind of foodie to join this revolution. Because of this and obviously because of local regulations Gypsy is a Private Club. You can't just come to dinner. Sorry."

Last night's chef was Jason Wilson, of Crush. I'm posting the menu to make you all swoon with jealousy. I'm still full 20 hours later.

Lola Loves You

Something new to check out..Lola Loves You Lingerie Shop. Full of vintage lingerie and girly goodness. This cute little shop is stocked full of lace, ruffles and all things sexy. I'm such a sucker for girly goodness....I think I may love Lola right back.

Reasons I love Lola:
~
1. Each item in her shop has a sassy name. For example; "Hey there Babydoll", "Black Dahlia Slip", and "Poison Apple Teddy".
~
2. More than half of her items are under $30.00.
~
3. She was born on Valentines Day, which is like the only day someone who has a vintage lingerie shop should be born on.
~
4. She lives in Spokane, which as we all know is where the most awesome of all people come from.

My Mom is smart

Sometimes my Mom just launches these zingers. Really great words of wisdom that I want to write down. Today's Mom Quote:

"Isn't life just grand when we let it be?"

Of course she said this while wearing hur fur coat, sipping champagne and eating bon bons...well, not really. But honestly, life is pretty grand and we only have ourselves to blame if it is not.

Above, by Mela Studios. You MUST check them out here. Shellie is an super talented illustrator and makes these great prints of her work. Much of it very inspiring in a light hearted happy way. Crazy enough...she is having a sale right this very minute. I've been dying to buy one of her "I love your spoons" prints for my kitchen. Which maybe would inspire me to actually get one out of the cupboard (or cabinet..where ever it is you keep those types of things).

She also has a pretty delightful blog located right about .... here ...
Maybe tomorrow I'll give you Mom's Dating Tips/Theory of the Six Month Wonder....it's brillant! For now, I hope you all have a grand day.

No boys allowed

Hey kids, it’s Sidney from Sidney Ann Designs blogging at you live from the Sweet Petula store in the Madison Valley. It’s a beautiful Seattle day with partially sunny skies, mid-to-low 60s with a chance for an afternoon coffee break at the bakery next door.

Ms. Petula (not her real name) and I have teamed up to bring in some fabulous new merchandise for your shopping pleasure. You really ought to come over here today and keep me company. I found some champagne in the back room and I bet there are some cupcakes around here somewhere...

Ms. Petula may be a creative genius but she is humble and therefore does not have the skills necessary to brag about what a fantastic place she’s created, so I took it upon myself to do it for her.

Everything is just so darn pretty! Multiple customers today have come in and exclaimed at how everything is "soft" and "cozy" and "yummy". They speak the truth.

The first thing you notice when you walk in (or come within 20 feet of the front door) is that it smells amazing! If Google would come up with a scratch ‘n sniff application, I would insert it here so that you can live vicariously through me.

A little shameless self-promotion (!). These leather accessories were created by me. Sweet Petula carries a lot of work by Seattle artists.

New rabbit pillows (above) and vintage scarf pillows (below) just arrived, also by yours truly.

Sweet Petula is your early morning/evening-outfitting headquarters offering an abundance of stylish yet comfortable robes, night gowns, p-a-n-t-i-e-s (I hate that word), pajamas, and just good old-fashioned lounging-around-house clothes. Lounge in luxury, flounce in fanciness, operate in opulence... Why yes, I am captain of the alliteration alliance.

That's all I got. Be sure to visit me here!

Vote for Colleen!

For those of you that shopped at my first store...you all know Colleen, of Colleen M. Monette flowers. She has been nominated for King 5's "Best Of"...and if you've seen her flowers, you know she is truly the best! Vote here....http://best.king5.com/colleen-e-monette-flowers/biz/132502
A few years ago, Colleen decided close her store front and work solely out of her home studio. I know a lot of you have seen her work...she is so talented. It is pretty mind blowing. Apparently, she is thinking of retiring, which is sort of a crime, considering her skills (and the fact that she is in her 40's...so I'm jealous).

so pretty!

Good Luck Colleen! I hope you win!
