sweet find

Made out of reclaimed wood, this bathtub caddy is made from reclaimed oak. Apparently, the wood was once a wooden beam holding up a hardware store. The company that makes these Peg & Awl, has some other really nifty things. Check out their candles.

times are a changing......

Good News/Bad News...

Let's get the bad news out of the way first. Sweet Petula Pioneer Square is closing. NOT SWEET PETULA in general, so no freaking out allowed. Our on-line shops http://www.sweetpetula.com/ & http://www.sweetpetula.etsy.com/ will always be open 24/7 and.....wait for it...(below).....I could spin this a million different directions, but the simple fact of the matter is that our retail store in Pioneer Square does not make money. Our on-line shops and wholesale divisions do. So, that is where our focus will lie.

Our last open for business days in our brick and mortar shop will be April 9th & 10th (friday & saturday) and April 16th & 17th (friday & saturday)...we are no longer open regular business hours during the week. Stop by any of those days for great deals on non-Sweet Petula merchandise (Sweet Petula merchandise is not on sale as....WE ARE NOT GOING OUT OF BUSINESS.)

But....the GOOD NEWS? Besides we ARE NOT GOING OUT OF BUSINESS? Is that we will be opening a Petite Petula at Capers in West Seattle. Capers is located at 4521 on California Ave. and they will carry our ENTIRE line beginning May 1st (as well as some lovely pjs in the Sweet Petula department.)

So that's the scoop folks!

winner!

The winner of our "what have you done for love" contest is Barbara L! Barbara wins $50 worth of Sweet Petula product for sharing her story. What's her story? Well....here it is.

January 11th, 2009 my husband Ernie and I, (that's them up there..aren't they cute?), met while playing Poker Palace on MySpace.
After hours of playing together we switched to IM (you had me at IM), and talked through the whole night. While we originally intended to be just friends (boys never want to be just friends Barbara...true documented fact), it was a very short time before he stole my heart. (I think he had a plan with that whole "just friends" idea he sold you on.)
He finally convinced me to meet him and I flew to North Carolina to meet him Valentine's weekend. My plan was if he ended up being some weird0, I could get back on the plane and head home. (good thinking B.....if he came to you how would you get rid of him?) Well things went great, (I think B left out a bunch of good stuff here...but who am I to pry?), and after I flew home I couldn't stop thinking about him. But....(oh B, your soooo practical) I just didn't see how things could work out. I even tried breaking it off. (don't do it B...love will find a way) He wouldn't hear of it. (Hooray for Ernie!) He gave up everything-job & home...and he and his son Hank moved here on March 27th. We married May 9th, less than 4 months from meeting. I now have three additional children and two grand babies. I can only say to all of those still looking...never give up. (and I can only ask....does Ernie have a brother?) You never know when souls who are meant to be together will find each other, or how. -Mrs. Locklear (Happy Valentine's Day Barbara & Ernie....you won because your story rocks!)

The Year of The Tiger

Happy (Lunar) New Year!....two days late. One of my customers, Dorit Ely, makes a yearly postcard celebrating the lunar New Year. I just received this one and of course, love it.
~
From this year's card, "Each lunar new year is represented by a guiding animal spirit: this year, the passionate and brave tiger empowers us to jump into the new and unknown with daring determination to accomplish our dreams and bet on bold breakthroughts. The tiger hunts for thrill and adventure, so whatever sparks new exploration and vitality for you .....go wild! And the flip side of the ferious feline?...It's a good time to power your inner cool cat, tame and tiger termoil that may burden the beast, and take time out for purrrfect cat naps to replenish. May the year ahead burn brightly for you. Go get'em, tiger!"
~
Dorit just launched a new bath & body line (that Sweet Petula was able to help with!), and her aromatics can be found at Lucca, Momo, & Sandy Lew in the Seattle area.

love is in the air...

It's time for a contest! Last year around Valentine's Day, I posted about a sign I saw in a window. The sign asked, "what have you done for love?"...I loved that question, so I decided this year to pose this question to you. Winner will be chosen completly at random depending on my whim.
~
So.....*What have you done for love?
~
Winner will get a delightful assortment of Sweet Petula products sent to them....valued at $50. Leave a comment and a way for me to contact you.
~
*here is my list....
-said I would love to be an organic farmer on a remote island.
-became a vegetarian
-played Ultimate Frisbee {I was actually quite skilled}
-camped (in a TENT) for 4 nights (STRAIGHT)
-agreed that we could name our first child Arugula.
(spelled like the lettuce, but pronounced Are Jula)
p.s. it wasn't all for the same boy.

Me & Sally Field.

Every once in a while, I get a wholesale order from someone I'm slightly star struck by. It gives me one of those Sally Field, "You like me, you really like me" moments. Well, I just shipped off an order to, Henry Road, which is a super cool home/design store in Los Angles..and I'm having a little Oscar moment. Owner Paula is a self taught fabric designer and superstar extraordinaire. Check out out the store site...as well as Paula's blog.
