Field Trip!

Today I headed out to Olde Burien to visit some of my old friends and sell Sweet Petula at a trunk show. Olde Burien is where my first shop was located. I love Olde Burien! People who don't know about this great little area are often shocked at how cool it is. I have such good memories of this neighborhood. My trunk show was at Zizia, which is the old Sweet Petula. The photo above is of the Danish Bakery mascot, which is directly next door....dangerous.
(fyi: this is one of the best places within miles of Seattle to buy a birthday cake...the only trick is convincing the owner, Lola, to make it!)

(for the record I HATE the "Olde"...it was "Old" for years. We voted. My side didn't win. I hate the "Olde"...but I guess I already mentioned that.)

More Zizia

I love these! They are baby t-shirts that predict the future of your child!

Meadow Boutique

Just blocks from my house, Meadow on Queen Anne is one of my new favorite shops. Located at 1959 6th Ave. West, a bit tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city...but definately worth a visit.
Owner, Shelley, stocks Meadow with a well edited mix of apparel, gifts and home decor. I'm loving her selection of glasswear right now, and of course, her Sweet Petula! (there we are above in those glass jars)

things I like very much. philadelphia & polaroids

Philadelphia & Polaroids. I like these two things very much.
I just got back (well it's been a week, but I've been busy) from a business/fun trip to Philadelphia. It was my first visit and I can't wait to go back. While I was there, I had a chance to take some Polaroid photos....(see how I worked those two together?)
Sweet Petula soaps at Terrain. Terrain is one of the coolest shops I have ever been in. It is HUGE...thousands of square feet, and every detail is tricked out. I started making these soaps for Terrain a few months ago. Watch for new Sweet Petula products at Terrain 4th quarter (that's retail speak for October-November-December)
Indulgent spa section. There were a lot of Sea Salt products, both in the bath & body department & the kitchen/housewares department.

Garden-y ~ Glass-y Stuff

Culinary Sea Salts.

One of my favorite bath & body sellers For Strange Women, is also selling at Terrain.

sweet find

Made out of reclaimed wood, this bathtub caddy is made from reclaimed oak. Apparently, the wood was once a wooden beam holding up a hardware store. The company that makes these Peg & Awl, has some other really nifty things. Check out their candles.

I heart stripes & swimming

It is swelteringly hot at Sweet Petula...and downtown is dead. What's that thing your Mom used to tell you when you complained about being bored? "if your bored..it means your boring"??? Well, I'm really boring today. It seems like everyone left town early and left me here alone. What gives?
So I'm shopping on-line....it keeps me busy.
Check out this vintage Barbie inspired bathing suit by LA Drama Queen.

sweet find

I was thinking about my neices today. I have 5. They are all super cute & cuddly. I came across these wall decals on Etsy and think one of my little gals should have some.

Made by Mae in Australia. These unique wall stickers are made of fabric instead of the usual vinyl. This makes them perfect for children, as they are removable and completely reusable. They can be scrunched into a ball and will easily un-scrunch and re-apply to your wall, many times over. They are even washable. Stickers can be applied to almost any surface, and will not damage your walls.

I am particularly fond of the Dress up Dolls. How fun would these be on your fridge? I want some for my place! (my b-day is June 25th for any interested parties).

sweet find.

Photographer Yvette Inufio seems to capture utter prettiness. (I know that isn't really a word, but it should be) Her photographs remind me of a delicate perfume. If delicate perfume had an image...to me, this is what it would look like. Her work inspires me. See more of her work here.
Yvette was also featured on Photojojo as one of 20 Photographers Whose Work You Can Actually Afford.

I want to live in her photographs. They feel so dreamy and delicate and pretty.

Oh la la.....

Check out my neighbor, Christina Mallet's, intimate photography site...Katrinkas Secret. Located in the building just next door to Sweet Petula, Christina (aka Katrinka) takes beautiful~tasteful~sinful~indulgent photographs of women. I'm so craving a session with her right now..and it is the perfect time as she is offering a $100 discount on any session booked before May 15th.
~
One look at her portfolio and you will see how amazingly beautiful & comfortable the sessions must be. Her photos are somehow slightly naughty and pretty and delicate and sexy all at the same time.
~
Each session includes a preshoot consultation, during which you’ll discuss your favorite and least favorite body parts, and professional retouching of your best 20 to 50 shots.
The resulting images are high quality and downright stunning. So, go...sign up. Tell her I sent you.

Katrinka's Secret Continued.

sweet find.

("peachy keen" dress $310...perfect for a summer wedding)

I've been coveting something...anything from Sarah Seven for months. I'm sure some of you MUST remember my Christmas list? Today I ran across some of her Spring collection and fell deeper in love. With a deep desire for the romance and the simple decadence of a bygone era of femininity, Portland, Oregon designer, Sarah Seven is able to create unique pieces that are vintage inspired but decidingly modern. Her collections are a rare glimpse into the perfected and intricate arrangement of blossoming ruffles, delicate fabrics, and flowing layers. A true Portlander at heart, Sarah Seven uses natural fabrics, silk, wool, linens, cotton voile as well as recycled vintage fabrics.
("powdered sugar" dress $375...perfect for drinks & dinner)

("mayflower" dress $195...afternoon tea at the Queen Mary?)

("a peaceful afternoon" dress $515...eating cake on the banks of the Seine?)

"Hand" Soap by Foliage $18.00

I ordered some of this handsoap as a gift for my brother this Christmas. They come packaged in sets and smell really fresh. I decided to keep them for myself. They kindof creeped out my boyfriend. And that amused me.

These little handsoaps come packaged in a cute little ribbon bag and can be bought here.
