Soap Balls!

for when your feeling just a little dirty......

(no matter how many times I say, "soap balls" I still giggle a little on the inside)

okay, so they sound funny, but they actually are really pretty. Especially if grouped in a big glass jar on your bathroom cabinet.

I just listed a few sets of 12 for $24.00 in the Etsy shop.

i have a valentine for you.

{my Love Potion No. 9 soap sitting on top of the coolest book. Have you heard of *Rob Ryan?}

Happy Valentine's Day (weekend) everyone!
For the record, I think Valentine's Day is a little played out.....all the pressure to be in a relationship and to celebrate the fact on February 14th, in a very specific way.
But I do love, love......so here is a little Valentine from me to you.
{but don't get any funny ideas...I think we should just be friends}
Stop by Capers in West Seattle before Monday, and with any Sweet Petula purchase, the nice ladies behind the counter will throw in a bar of my Love Potion No. 9 soap.

Capers
4525 California Ave. SW
Seattle, WA 98116
Open Monday-Saturday 10-6
&
Sunday 11-5
{want more info? visit the capers blog}

*I love Rob Ryan! He is an amazing paper artist that uses lasers to cut and design images. My favorite is "Can We Shall We." It is a special laser cut he made just for Valentine's Day. You can see many of his images in the book I mentioned above. It is also available at Capers.
"Can We? Shall We? One day very soon, let us go away together, just you and me. Can We? Shall We? Call in sick one day and travel to the sea and hold hands all day. Can We? Shall We? Eat our sandwiches on the train, get drunk on fresh air and come home tired and never tell anyone...Ever."
xoxo.

New Year's Resolution

"Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful" - William Morris~
I do pretty well with keeping things simple. (my "stuff" pile anyway) But I'm wanting to pare down even further. Get rid of the extraneous and anything that does not please me. It's sort of like your underwear drawer. You know how you have your favorite pair? The style you always reach for that make you feel great? And how there are about 6-10 other pairs in there you only wear on wash day? Why not get rid of them? I'm thinking everyday should be favorite panty day.

The Witching Hour

Inspiration always strikes after midnight. Right now I'm working on some custom wedding favors & I love the way they have turned out.

Night time is my favorite time to work. I can get more done between the hours of 10:00 and 2:00 then in an entire 8 hour work day. Unfortunately, my perfect schedule doesn't mesh with the masses, so I have to work in a few daylight hours every day. It is frustrating trying to balance when people want to interact with you verses when you feel like interacting with them. :) My Mom and my brother are the exact same way. Complete night owls.

For the happiest life, rigorously plan your days, leave your nights open to chance. ~Mignon McLaughlin, The Second Neurotics Notebook

~

So on another note, I've gotten the new iPhone! Basically, I bought it for the photo apps. (see photos above) I'm having so much fun with it. If you like taking photos, I cannot recommend it enough. I'm pretty sure I'm driving the people in my life batty however. Just today, my English friend said, "Your a menace with that new iPhone"...which I think translated means, "I find your photographs fascinating...please show me more."

nighty night. sleep tight.

found it!

Best blush ever! After an almost year long search for the perfect blush...I finally found it! Try the color called "Radiance" (not the one pictured) it looks very unnatural in its container, a bright fuschia, but a little goes a long way. And is the most natural looking formula (and long lasting) I have found.

hello there...where have you been all my life?

I really really really want this table. I've been shopping for a dining room table for months...almost a year practically, and this is the table of my dreams. I like to buy things that will last years, if not a lifetime and I tend to have analysis paralysis when it comes to decorating my own home. But this table is it. I have chosen it. I love it. Made of reclaimed mahogany with cast iron bases (which are salvaged from a 100 year old leather belt driven metal lathe.) You can buy one here. Now where is that extra $2500.00 I had lying around?

Now all I need is a Ken Doll.

Love this Barbie swimming suit. Buy it here.
It comes in pink too!

The Year of The Tiger

Happy (Lunar) New Year!....two days late. One of my customers, Dorit Ely, makes a yearly postcard celebrating the lunar New Year. I just received this one and of course, love it.
~
From this year's card, "Each lunar new year is represented by a guiding animal spirit: this year, the passionate and brave tiger empowers us to jump into the new and unknown with daring determination to accomplish our dreams and bet on bold breakthroughts. The tiger hunts for thrill and adventure, so whatever sparks new exploration and vitality for you .....go wild! And the flip side of the ferious feline?...It's a good time to power your inner cool cat, tame and tiger termoil that may burden the beast, and take time out for purrrfect cat naps to replenish. May the year ahead burn brightly for you. Go get'em, tiger!"
~
Dorit just launched a new bath & body line (that Sweet Petula was able to help with!), and her aromatics can be found at Lucca, Momo, & Sandy Lew in the Seattle area.

good news/bad news

The Good News: My 2010 Horoscope is FANTASTIC!
"One thing that all Crabs (I'm a cancer) know deep in their hearts is that someone, somewhere out there knows how great it would be to bust them wide open and eat them with melted butter. The big news for you this year, Cancer, is that Pluto has moved into your Seventh House, which rules marriage, partnerships and close relationships. This means that someone may very well be cracking your heart open in the next year."

The Bad News: My New Year's Eve Date doesn't eat butter.

My (totally anonymous) friend has brought back her dating blog. She had to go in hiding for a bit when I accidentally outed her...sorry anonymous friend. I'm glad your back. Her new blog is here: Glitter Highway.

i smell christmas

Just finished up a new Christmas candle....these little lovelies are divine. A combination of spruce, cinnamon, & balsam fir this limited addition candle is my newest favorite thing. I burned one last night and the container is so beautiful & glowy (yes that is a word) when the candle is lit. I'm honestly not sure when I've been this excited about a new Sweet Petula product. I love these! Or maybe I just love Christmas. Currently, I only have 25 in stock (my pal Lisa over at Capers in West Seattle has 20+ as well)...more to come in a two weeks.
