4. Let me know if you are interested in testing people and pet products, just people products, or just pet products. I do need people interested in both.

5. Wait for a package of samples to arrive.

6. Try out samples. Taking note of your likes, dislikes, thoughts, etc.

7. Send me your feedback via email. There will be a handy dandy form to fill out with some basic questions as well as a spot for you to write other comments.

8. The end. Wasn't that easy?

happy birthday times.

Yesterday was my birthday and I was showered with love and presents. It was glorious. My apartment is filled with flowers from people...bouquets of pink peonies (my favorites), and 36 pink roses...one for each of my years! The place smells divine.

Rachel got me this. Something I have ALWAYS wanted.....and I will spend the next 4 months figuring out how to recreate this outfit for Tom B's birthday.

Two of the rosebuds fell off of my bouquet of 3 dozen roses...I think that means I'm still 34. The best part of yesterday was the two amazing meals I had. Lunch at the Boat Street Cafe with Lisa M....who I figured out yesterday I have known for 1/2 of my life. I worked for Lisa at Capers when I was 18. She introduced me to Martha Stewart and fancy Gift Wrap.
My oldest friend (she's not old...I've just known her forever), Jean H. made me the best birthday cake ever. It is pure chocolate decadence. Made with the BEST chocolate.
Then it was off to dinner at the 35th Street Bistro, where I dined with 4 fabulous *skinny women whom I love. It was a good day. Happy Birthday to me.

Happy 1st Day of Summer!

artwork by Groundwork artist Danna Ray (her entire family is artists, check our her site...very interesting)
Summer is definitely here. The air in Madison Valley smells amazing today. Someone just cut their grass, there is a delicate flowery thing blooming behind our building and Essential Baking company is baking something delicious. It is all intermingling in a nice light breeze for the most perfect "first day of summer perfume".
Happy Summer everyone!

I won the Lottery!

well, not really.....but Qwest decided to credit my phone bill $454.87. And that's sort of like winning the lottery right?

You see, some jack-ass (called GlobalYP?), had hijacked my account last May and has been charging me $34.99 a month...for 13 months. I just realized this today and the nice Qwest lady took off the charges...just like that.....la tee da.

So this is my ringing endorsement for Qwest. What large company does that? Just takes off $454? It's so.....human. I heart Qwest. And my $454.87.

Father's Day Winner!

(meet the winner of our Father's Day Bay Rum Giveaway! The following was completely poached from the winner's blog)
D A D
...drinks coke out of a wine glass.
...thinks potato chips count as a vegetable.
...doesn't believe in oven mitts or pre-heating the oven.
...makes a really mean breakfast (without using the oven).
...will try to order a milkshake from the flight attendants when flying.
...once shook a piece of cantaloupe at me and my sisters and said, "remember, you can't elope!".
...has perfected a piked deltoid gorbetchov with a double twist.
....has never gone above 60 mph on the freeway (it's the limit).
...still sometimes refers to twenty-five cents as "two bits".
...is rilly silly. Happy father's day!
p.s. I do know the winner of this entry, and just fyi...I did not do the picking for the grand prize giveaway. My method of choosing a winner (very scientific), was to call Sarah at the store, ask her to pick a number between 1 and 13 (there were thirteen entries), and she picked 12. She had no idea who or what the number was in relation to. I'm really not picking favorites!

Sea Salt Soaks

There is nothing better than soaking in a nice big tub of Dead Sea Mineral Salts. It is one of my very favorite things to do.
Our current supplier of salts is the best I've found in years. The quality is amazing. We are having a great sale right now on our Aromatherapy Sea Salts. See our Etsy store for fabulous deals. Some of the bulk bath salt bags are limited quantity, so get them before they are gone.

But what can salts do for ME?

I'm so glad you asked. Dead Sea salts are mineral-rich and contain high amounts of Potassium, Magnesium and Bromide. Potassium helps regulate the moisture level of the skin, Magnesium helps promote healing, and Bromide has a smoothing and relaxing effect.

Dead Sea salt exfoliates and revitalizes the skin and helps draw out toxins. Sea salt is well known for its ability to relieve aches and pains, reduce stiffness after exertion, relax the muscles and relieve skin problems such as acne, eczema and psoriasis. It sounds weird, but actually lightly scrubbing dry areas with sea salt really helps eczema and psoriasis.

The high mineral content of Dead Sea salt stimulates blood and lymphatic circulation. Increased circulation moves trapped fluid from joints, improving joint movement and reducing stiffness and pain. Regular use of salts promotes healthy skin by exfoliating and encouraging regeneration of new skin cells....so see....all good stuff.

New Manufacturing & Petite Petula

art purchased for my new office by Doll Faced Design. It is beautiful and delicate and intricate and I could not love it more.

The new Petite Petula, (tiny store, manufacturing and office), is coming....along. It has been a little more difficult than I had anticipated making the adjustment.

The space is wonderful, but so much smaller than I'm used to, it is a bit frustrating trying to change the way I have been working for the past 8 years. Right now, it feels a little bit like camping. You know how when you try cooking, let's say, coffee over a campfire? And making a pot of coffee takes about a 45 minutes? Well, that is how I feel trying to work in my new space. Like I'm making coffee in an old tin percolator on an open flame.
I'm also missing my Burien routine. I miss my 20 minute drive in where I plan my day, I miss my Starbucks baristas, (but sorry, not Starbucks coffee), I miss my massive manufacturing space, and I miss Tony, my old UPS guy. I miss my routine.

I know I'll settle in soon, but I'm surprised by how "off" I'm feeling.
~
I must mention, that my new UPS guy is ALSO named Tony, and he is almost as cute as Old Tony. He is defiantly more chatty than Old Tony. But me and Old Tony really didn't need words. Saying, "goodbye" to Old Tony was hard. He was the best UPS man a girl could ever ask for.
~
Below are pictures of my new space. The color was chosen to be super girly and warm. Never have I had a pink room, and I'm loving it. Also, I'm decoupaging one entire wall (10 feet tall by 20 feet long!), with vintage dictionary illustrations. It looks good and is educational at the same time. It will look even better when it is done. I'll keep you posted!

dogs x3...or x4

Look at how well received our Good Clean Dog Giveaway was! These three pooches are so sweet. Growing up my family raised Brittney and Springer Spaniels, and my sister Julie and I would sometimes sleep outside on sleep outs with the puppies during the summer. I can remember sleeping on the grass in our little sleeping bags (mine was Holly Hobbie), and getting no sleep at all. I think we always came inside around 2:00. But it was so much fun.
For those of you who do not know me personally, I had 4 dogs. I say "had", because my ex-husband got full custody in our divorce. Sometimes I miss them so much it aches....even after years.
(the dogs, not the husband, but he was/is truly lovely)
Sadly for me, but luckily for my pooches, they live in Grand DogLand. They are pampered endlessly and have a huge yard just of their own. Ex-husband also takes them on daily walks...to a dog park. I tried acclimating them to city life, but they politely said, "no thank you". It was really hard to do what was best for them. I miss their sweet little faces. So if anyone ever needs a dog sitter, call me up, because I need a dose. I no longer have my Hollie Hobbie sleeping bag, but it's summer and I'm ready for a good old fashioned puppy slumber party.

how pretty

yes, I should be working....but look at these! Made by iheartnorwegianwood, these blouses are reworked "secretary blouses". You know the kind. Boxy, ugly, unfeminine...perfect for that 80's secretary look. Well, iheartnorwegianwood has taken these babies and made them pretty! So pretty!
Made by super sewer, Angie Johnson, who has been sewing as long as she can remember! Shea describes herself as, "a small town prairie girl transplanted to a French Canadian city in eastern Canada, Montreal. I make clothing, pillows and accessories using vintage and new fabrics, various trims and other fun bits that I dig up in strange little stores throughout this mysterious city. Every single item is handmade by me in my studio/apt here in Montreal".
Angie also runs a brick and mortar store with her boyfriend Tyson in Montreal. Check it out here.

Good Clean Dog Winner!

Meet our Good Clean Dog Giveaway winner, Rocco! Rocco will receive one of each of our Good Clean Dog Spa Products. Apparently, Rocco loves the water which is perfect for all the baths he will be taking. Hopefully he will share his Good Clean Dog stash with his two brothers. Thanks to everyone who submitted a photo for our contest.
~
*interesting side note...I took these photos off Rocco's Mom's Blog. And these photos were about 1/100th of my choices. Good thing she doesn't have kids. They would be neglected....God, I hope she doesn't have kids.

Thanks Hillary.

Umm...can we get this guy's address?

Look at the latest entry on our Father's Day Giveaway. I don't even know this guy and I'm sending him a Father's Day Card.
Years ago, I saw an interview with Gwyneth Paltrow that really stuck with me. Apparently, her father was quite an amazing guy. She was talking about how wonderful he was and told a story about him that was very touching. When Paltrow was 10, her dad took her on a father-daughter trip to France. On the plane trip over, he told her, "I wanted you to see Paris for the first time with a man who will always love you." I thought that was the most special thing I had ever heard of a man doing until this......

Modest Mousketeer said...
My Dad is the winner. Always has been. Doesn't matter what the contest is for, he should win. My Dad took on an insta-family when he married my mom nearly 16 years ago. My brother and I were hers from a previous marriage and he welcomed us as his own from the very start despite our rather broken state. Leaving my crappy past mostly out of this story, I'll just say that I was so ready for someone to step up and really fill that role of father in my life and this man finally did. Over the years he's shown me more love and respect and joy than all the years prior to him joining our family and the most important event of all is my submission for this contest. For my thirteenth birthday my Dad secretly planned a date for just he and I to go to dinner while we were already on vacation in California. After getting ready (in a horrible state do to raging acne and a dress I hated), I marched outside with my head down only to glance up and see a limo waiting for us. I was taken on my first and only limo ride to the Ritz and on the the table where we were seated was a beautiful vase of red roses with a tiny box beside it. After we settled in and Dad placed an order for some tasty treats, the box was presented to me... "This is a ring from your mother and I and it represents your heart, (gold ring with heart shape and tiny diamond in center) I want you to wear it and promise me that you'll let me protect your heart until the right man comes along to take care of it forever." "There's a key to that heart" he went on to say (holds up tiny little gold key on chain) "and I'm going to keep the key safe and sound until the day you're married and then I'll give it to your husband so he can have the key to your heart." Dad went on to say how important I was and how much he loved me and wanted me to always know that we were partners on my journey through adolescence. I can't tell you how special I felt and how much he made me feel worthy of the very best by his words and actions in that one evening. I wore that ring until it was replaced by an engagement ring and it guided every decision I made along my path to finding the man of my dreams. I mean, next to my Dad of course! I still get teary when I tell that story or think back on it and I how it was such a simple thing to do, but how it changed my life forever. I love my Dad, there really aren't enough words, but I've obviously found a few today! Happy Father's Day Daddy!

resting today....

phew...what a week/weekend. I'm taking a much needed rest today. Thanks to everyone who has entered our Father's Day Giveaway. Keep posting about your favorite guy.
